Scrappy Go Lucky & Fireworks

Some DT projects for Scrappy Go Lucky - www.scrappy-go-lucky.com.au

Chinese New Year is 14th February this year, so I made some New Year cards using the Pagoda Passion cartridge....

The layout, also using Pagoda Passion, is Singapore Journey (the Kanji symbol)....

Head on over to Scrappy Go Lucky www.scrappy-go-lucky.com.au for all the details (scroll back to 23rd Jan) and the latest projects from fellow DT member Tereesa, also a chance to win some beautiful Alison Ellis papers, which we have used to create mini books (mine still to be posted)...

Now for some photo's which I have sourced off of the NET from the Australia Day fireworks here in Perth on 26th January....

I DO NOT take credit for these photo's....

This flag was HUUUUUUUUGE.....

In this final photo, our wee heads are somewhere in this crowd shot....

New challenges are up at SOUS, Practical Scrappers and Frosted Designs - let me see what I can come up with.....

Til then....

REFLECTION

This is my take on the latest sketch over at SOUS....

The sketch by Beggahuna....

I have used Scenic Route papers, 'Garland', lace paper by Little Yellow Bicycle 'Poinsettia', Gold Mirror Card, Kaiser pearls and a Karen Foster Sparkle Burst brad....

Circle cut from George cart and REFLECTION @ 1" from George....

Photo is DGD # 3 at Christmas - totally adorable....

This layout also qualifies for the challenge over at Practical Scrappers www.practicalscrappers.com to use at least two patterned papers, so I think I'll pop it on there too....

Yesterday was Australia Day down here in Oz, so, off to the fireworks last night, with Granny's car decked out in flags - I am qualified to fly the flag, DH and I became citizens two years ago....

Littlest granddaughter (the one from the layout above) wrapped against the breeze coming off the water....

DGD # 1 - mini me - with her little chair, just like Granny....

The City of Perth, after the fireworks (no photo's of the fireworks, you all know what they look like, and boy, do I have enough of them!!!!!) with the flag displayed on the St George building....

We went to South Perth this year to watch, thus was able to get this great shot, we usually go north of the river, so good decision....

That's it for this post, head on over to SOUS www.stuckonusketches.blogspot.com and Practical Scrappers and see what everyone else has been up to, you won't be disappointed....

Together

I decided to play along with the challenge at Frosted Designs this week - to use chipboard on a project....

Not my favourite photo of DH and I (check the fringe!!!) but there aren't many photo's of a couple that will fit in an oval....

Photo taken 2002....

I got these gorgeous oval doilies at my LSS and couldn't wait to try....

I spritzed it with Glimmer Mist, though I don't think you can tell too well in the photo's....

The chipboard candelabra is by Dusty Attic (they have the most gorgeous chandeliers as well, but didn't want to overdo it!!!)....

The flowers are all Prima, and have been spritzed with Glimmer Mist, as has the green cardstock which I punched with the Martha Stewart round the corner punch (tho I didn't go round the corner!!). The centre of the small flowers is Distress Stickles - Fired Brick....

The rub-on is Creative Imaginations and the papers are DCWV 'Once Upon A Time' paper stack...

I haven't played with Glimmer Mist very much, never seems to go with my projects, but, WOW, what an effect, me thinks I will play some more, stunning results with not too much effort....

So, there we are, pop on over to Frosted Designs www.frosteddesigns.blogspot.com and have a look see what the other girls have come up with....

SOUS challenge up next....
On time for Mr MckLinky this time!!!....

SOUS # 11

Wow, I've made it, by the skin of my teeth... Mr McLinky closes in a few hours, thank goodness Australia is ahead of the rest of the world!!!!....

Here is my take on the sketch over at SOUS www.stuckonusketches.blogspot.com

The sketch, by Liz Qualman....

Papers are Bo Bunny "Abbey Road", brads are Bo Bunny, Flowers - Prima, Lulu and Kaiser....

CRICUT -
Flourish @ 3.5" - Home Decor

PRECIOUS @ 1" - Gypsy Font (shadow)
x @ 0.58" - Gypsy Font (shadow)

2 @ 1" - Gypsy Font (shadow)

Nearly didn't get this one finished in time, what with WORK (ugh), and the heat, yes, toooooooo hot!!!

We emigrated to Australia to get away from the freezing temperatures in Scotland, and for the most part I love the weather here....

However, usually during January and February, the temp hits the waaaaaaaay toooooo hot for comfort zone. Fortunately, these temps only last a couple of days at a time. I think we hit 43 degrees on Monday and Tuesday (must Google that to see what it is in Fahrenheight (is that how you spell it?)) Anybody know?
Very uncomfortable, and not scrapbooking friendly - glue melts....

And, no, I don't have air con in yet. What with this being a brand new house, and finances being spent on more essential items for scrapping (only kidding), air con and pool are going in next month (too late, I know).
Anyway, this photo of me with two of my adorable granddaughters was taken on New Year's Day. We spent the day at Caversham Wildlife Park here in Perth, where DGD # 1 was able to feed the kangaroos and met her first Joey (baby kangaroo), he was adorable, jumping all over the place like a coiled spring - or a Slinky (remember them girls). Will scrap those photo's later....

So, if you get a moment hop (!!!!) on over to SOUS www.stuckonusketches.blogspot.com and see what the design team have done (wonderful) and the other girls (amazing)

Til next time....

SOUS # 10

Here is my interpretation of Sketch # 10 over at SOUS www.stuckonusketches.blogspot.com

The sketch.... by Becky Fleck....

I have used papers by Black Market Paper Society "Vintage Romance"....

Title and leaves cut from Storybook cart, and flowers by Prima (of course)....

The photograph is my maternal Grandparents, a photograph I didn't realise I had....

I inherited a lot of 'old' photo's, like this one, when my elderly auntie died in 1998 (the best maid in the photo, Gran's sister, she was 91). Anyway, I have looked over the photo's many times, because of course they have no names or dates on them, and only ever recognized my auntie (because I knew her!!)

Gran died when I was two, so I have no memory of her, and Grandpa died when I was six, and I have some memories of him, though few....

Over the past few years I have asked various family members if they had a wedding photo of my Grandparents - nobody did. Since discovering scrapbooking and geneology, my family tree is growing by leaps and bounds.

When this sketch was posted I rummaged through my paper stash and came across these papers by Black Market Society, thought a vintage photo would be appropriate and pulled out the 'old' photo's.

I recognised Grandpa immediately....
Isn't it funny, I have looked at these photo's maybe 50 times since they came to my possession, (I love looking at old photo's!!!) and it never clicked, then suddenly, my heart skipped a beat, I have had a wedding photo of my maternal grandparents for 12 years and didn't know....

Here is that photo....

A new family treasure....

Snow Buddies

A layout using the Basic Grey collection Figgy Pudding....

Title cut from Winter Woodland cartridge, of course....

Snowman, penguin and reindeers cut from Christmas Cheer....

Lots of KindyGlitz, though photo's don't show the lovely sparkle it gives to the page....

And DGD Rebekah with her little friends that live under the Christmas Tree....

Unfortunately (NOT) we don't get any photo's of real snow here in Perth, it just DOES NOT snow here.....

Now as much as I do not miss the snow, it means I have no photo's to scrap....

So, this is as good as it gets....

The first sketch for 2010 is up at SOUS - Sketch # 10 - so I'm off to play with that now.....
